Pests rarely announce themselves politely. A scratching in the loft, a trail of ants across the worktop, a wasp nest under the eaves or droppings behind the cooker all call for the same thing: someone who can tell you what you are dealing with and what to do about it. We cover homes, rented properties and businesses right across Essex.
Our technicians travel from our base near Chelmsford. On the first visit we identify the pest, explain what is going on, and set out the plan in plain terms. You hear the price before any work begins, and we stay to answer your questions, however small they may seem.

The most common calls are for wasps, rats, mice, fleas, bed bugs, ants, cockroaches, moths, carpet beetle and squirrels. Each one behaves differently, nests in different places and needs a different method, which is why a proper identification matters before anything is put down or sprayed. Guessing wrongly wastes time, money and patience, and it can let the problem grow while you wait for results that never arrive. Telling a rat from a mouse, or a clothes moth from a carpet beetle, changes everything that follows.
Some problems are seasonal. Wasps and flying ants peak in summer, rodents move indoors as the weather cools, and moths and carpet beetle quietly work through wardrobes and lofts. Others, like bed bugs and cockroaches, can appear at any time of year. If you are unsure what you have found, describe it to us, send a description of the signs, and we will help you work out what it is. A quick photo or a clear description of the droppings, bites or damage is often enough to start.

We start with a careful inspection, indoors and out, looking for the pest itself, the signs it leaves behind, and the way in or the thing that attracts it. We talk through what we find in plain language, so you understand the cause rather than just the symptom, and you are free to ask anything you like along the way. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is done behind your back. We would rather take an extra ten minutes to be sure than treat the wrong thing.
Next we agree the treatment and the price with you before starting. Where we use traps, bait or other products, we place them thoughtfully and keep children, pets and wildlife in mind. If the job needs more than one visit, we tell you so at the start, and we come back to check progress until the problem has properly ended and you are satisfied. Prevention advice is part of every visit. We also leave you with clear notes on what was done.

A treatment lasts longest when the cause is dealt with too. We advise on proofing gaps and entry points, storing food and pet feed in sealed containers, managing waste, clearing clutter and keeping damp areas dry. These small habits make a building far less welcoming to pests, and they help a good result stay that way for much longer than a single treatment ever could on its own. Good storage and hygiene cost very little. Prompt repairs to damaged seals and vents help too.
Essex covers a lot of ground, from estuary and coastal towns to new towns, commuter estates, older terraces, farmland and the edge of Epping Forest. Pest pressures vary with each setting, and we adjust our advice to the property in front of us. Landlords, holiday let owners and businesses are welcome as well as householders, and we treat every call with the same care. Older houses with voids need different proofing from newer flats. Tell us how the building is used.

Most household pests leave clues behind, and learning to read droppings, damage, noises and timing will help you decide what you are dealing with and what to do next.

Pest problems follow the calendar, so knowing what tends to appear in spring, summer, autumn and winter helps you prepare early and spot trouble before it grows.

Rats are secretive and mostly active after dark, so the first clues are usually small marks and sounds rather than a sighting of the animal itself.
Read the guide →Look at the signs: droppings, bites, damage, trails, noises or sightings. If you are unsure, tell us what you have noticed when you call. A technician will confirm the pest on inspection, because the right treatment depends on getting the identification correct first, before anything is applied.
Yes. After the inspection we explain the problem, set out the plan and agree the price with you before anything is treated. If we find the job needs more than expected, we talk to you first and never carry on without your clear agreement.
We choose and place treatments with children, pets and wildlife in mind, and we tell you what has been done and where. Let us know about anyone vulnerable or any animals in the home when you book, and we will plan around them carefully.
Yes. Pests often come together, for example rodents and fleas, or ants and a wasp nest in the same garden. We inspect for everything, explain how the problems connect, and set out one clear plan so you are not paying for separate guesses.
Tell us what you have found and roughly where it is. We will come back to you — or call 01245 327 274 if it is urgent.
