Mice are small, quick and very good at getting indoors. A gap the width of a pencil can be enough. Once inside they breed fast, chew through food packets and wiring, and leave droppings wherever they travel. We help homes and businesses across Essex get rid of them with a patient programme rather than a single quick fix.
Our technicians travel from our base near Chelmsford. We explain what we find in plain terms, set out the plan, and agree the price with you before any work begins. Then we keep coming back to check until the activity has properly stopped, and we tell you honestly when we think it has.

Mouse droppings are small, dark and pointed at the ends, and you will often find them along skirting boards, in kitchen cupboards or behind appliances. Other signs include gnawed packaging, shredded paper or fabric used as nesting material, greasy smears along walls where they run, and a stale smell that builds up in a closed space such as a cupboard, void or under the kitchen units. Damaged food packets are an early giveaway. Check inside cupboards and behind the cooker as well.
Scratching or scurrying in walls, ceilings and lofts, particularly at night, is another common clue. Mice are mostly active in the dark, so you may never actually see one. Pets reacting to a corner of the room, or food that looks nibbled in the morning, can also point to activity that has been going on quietly for some time. The sooner you act, the fewer there will be to remove. Dirty marks around gaps and pipes show where they squeeze through.

Mouse control succeeds as a programme. On the first visit we inspect inside and out, find where they are getting in and where they are travelling, and place traps and bait where they are safe and effective. We keep these away from children, pets and wildlife, and we explain exactly where everything has been put so that nothing is left unaccounted for when the work is finished. Where activity is heavy we may use more devices at first, then reduce them.
We then return to check, because a single visit rarely clears a whole population. Over several weeks we look at each trap, record what is caught or eaten, move devices where activity shifts, and judge when the problem has really ended. This steady monitoring is what separates a lasting result from a temporary quiet spell that ends when the next mouse arrives. You will always know what has been found and what happens next. We will let you know if a different method is needed.

Once the activity is under control we advise on closing the gaps. That can mean sealing around pipes, repairing airbricks and door seals, and tidying cluttered storage. Food kept in sealed containers and crumbs cleared away give mice much less reason to stay. Cutting off the way in is what stops the next group arriving, so we treat proofing as a proper part of the job and not an optional extra. We also suggest keeping bins closed and wood piles away from walls.
Essex has a wide mix of housing, from older homes with gaps and voids to newer estates and flats, along with farmland, fields and woodland edges that push mice towards buildings as the weather turns cold. Landlords, shops, restaurants, offices and holiday lets all use us, and the same careful approach applies to each of them, scaled to the size of the premises. Gaps around pipes and cables are the usual way in, whatever the age of the property, and the fix is often simple and quick to carry out.
We cover towns and villages across Essex. Choose your area to see how mouse control works locally.

Mice are small, quiet and mostly active at night, so the evidence they leave behind is often the first thing you notice, long before you see one.

Mice only need a tiny gap to get inside, so stopping them means knowing where homes tend to be weak and tackling the entry points carefully.

Most household pests leave clues behind, and learning to read droppings, damage, noises and timing will help you decide what you are dealing with and what to do next.
Read the guide →It depends on how active the mice are and how easily they can get in. Most jobs need an initial visit followed by a few checks over several weeks. We tell you what to expect at the start and let you know if the plan needs to change.
We place traps and bait carefully, in protected positions that children and pets cannot reach, and we tell you where each one is. If you have animals that roam the garden or home, mention it when you book so we can plan around them.
We can make it much harder for them. We look for the entry points, advise on sealing them and suggest changes to food storage and clutter. No building is ever completely sealed, so we also check that the problem has really stopped before we finish.
Yes. We help shops, food premises, offices and rented properties. Mice can cause real trouble where food is handled, so we plan the visits around your opening hours and keep a record of what we find and do on each visit to the premises.
