Fleas are a nuisance in any home, but in Leigh-on-Sea they can be especially stubborn in older properties with floorboards, deep skirting and carpets that have been down for years. We provide flea control for houses, flats and small businesses, including those who look after other people's pets, and we treat the problem at its source.
A visit begins with listening to what you have noticed, then checking pet bedding, carpets and furniture for flea dirt and live fleas. From there we agree a plan, treat the property and arrange a return visit for any stragglers.

In Leigh-on-Sea, the old town by the water and the steep streets above it include many period houses and converted flats, often with several layers of flooring. Gaps between boards, worn carpet edges and cluttered under-stair cupboards give flea larvae somewhere dark and undisturbed to grow. Ordinary vacuuming reaches the middle of a room but rarely the corners, so those hidden spots matter a great deal.
Newer housing in the SS9 area has its own pattern: fitted carpets throughout, which hold eggs and larvae very well, and warm central heating that keeps fleas active even through the colder months. Whichever type of home you have, we adapt the treatment to the layout and to where your pets actually sleep, rather than following a routine that ignores how the house is used.

After the inspection we treat the affected rooms, working along carpet edges, under furniture, around pet beds and across upholstery. This targets the larvae, eggs and pupae that make up most of the infestation, not just the adult fleas you happen to see. We explain which areas to keep people and animals out of, and for how long, so the treatment can settle and do its job.
Some pupae stay sealed in their cocoons until they sense vibration or warmth, so fleas can appear a couple of weeks later even after a thorough job, which surprises many households. In Leigh-on-Sea homes and elsewhere we plan for that with a follow-up visit, which checks for activity and treats any new arrivals so the cycle is properly interrupted and does not simply restart.
In Leigh-on-Sea, as anywhere, the owner's part matters. Wash pet bedding and your own throws at a high temperature, and vacuum carefully along every edge and under every sofa before and after treatment. Please ask your vet which flea product suits each of your pets, because the animal needs treating too. We also cover Southend-on-Sea and Rochford, as well as Canvey Island, for fleas and other household pests.
We cover towns and villages across Essex. Choose your area to see how flea control works locally.

Fleas are small, fast and surprisingly persistent, but a calm and thorough routine, plus professional help when needed, will clear them from your home.

If fleas reappear after you thought the problem was over, the reason is usually in the life cycle or the routine, and it can be put right.

Most household pests leave clues behind, and learning to read droppings, damage, noises and timing will help you decide what you are dealing with and what to do next.
Read the guide →Yes. Eggs and larvae drop into gaps between boards and under skirting, where vacuuming struggles to reach. We pay close attention to these edges and gaps during treatment, because that is often where a persistent infestation keeps restarting.
It could be. Fleas bite people around the ankles and lower legs even when pets show little sign. Check pet bedding for tiny black flea dirt and have the home inspected, as bites alone do not confirm the cause.
Possibly a few, for a couple of weeks, as dormant pupae hatch. That is expected and is why we book a follow-up visit. Keep vacuuming regularly and tell us if you are still seeing lots of fleas, as that needs another look.
Tell us what you have found and roughly where it is. We will come back to you — or call 01245 327 274 if it is urgent.
